Not saying this is right or wrong, it’s just the way I did it.

Had to find a good semi-permanent place to mountt the HAM antenna. This is the setup now and works real well for me. Its probably directionally impeded but I regularly pick up guys 10+ miles from me.

 At first i had the top off so I mounted on the top wall of the rear quarter. I liked that best but had to move it to get the top on. I had it on the left side of the rear hatch. But it seemed to get in the way a lot. Moved it to the tail light guard and i think thats where its going to stay.

This is a closeup of the mount i got from Jon. I will treasure it forever. Thanks Jon.  You can mount it to any flat edge and point the antenna in any direction. I had to spread it a little and get rid of the rubber ptotector to make it fit the thicker steel.
