2015 President’s Message
Well, technically at this point ex-president. In any case, I just wanted to say a few words about my tenure as president (which we are all a little fuzzy on how long that actually was).
When I took over as president we were in a bit of a bind for Coal Mine. Paragon closed and we needed a new venue to continue. We (and I mean all of us) had to come up with a new venue and HQ. Some of it worked out ok, some of it not so ok. Rausch Creek turned out to be a big win for us. Moving the venue there was painless, there are wheeling opportunities at every level of ability. Echo Valley became our new HQ and we put up with that mess for a few years until we found Twin Grove (a bit more of a ride, but infinitely better IMO).
And it’s been a learning and growing and refining process that continues today.
I am proud to say that I am a member of this club and feel good about where we’ve gone while I was president.
As in any organization that strives to be the best, there are growing pains. Sometimes we don’t all agree on decisions that are made, sometimes the decisions aren’t the best. So every year we look at how we can improve and try to tweak things to move in a positive direction. I get the feeling that most members are happy with the changes we have made, and it’s been my pleasure to serve you over the past few years. This is a great club, run by great people, for a great bunch of people.
Best of luck to our new BOD. I am not going anywhere any time soon (hopefully) and will continue to help where I can. I see great things for us in the future. It was just time for me to pass the baton.
Big thanks to all.
Rich
